You can minimize your risk of bringing bed bugs back home by following these tips. Of course there is no guarantee that you won't get bed bugs, but it's important to reduce your exposure.
- When you first arrive at your room, whether it's a home or a hotel, always look at the box spring/frame for bed bugs and their fecal matter. (dried blood)
- Do not bring your belongings into the room until you've done a thorough search of the room.
- If you find any insects, which might be bed bugs, make sure the front desk is aware and request another room.
- Start the process over again. You can never be too careful when it comes to bed bugs.
- Put your luggage on the supplied luggage rack and store in the bathroom at night. If no luggage rack, put on bathroom floor or in tub. The further away from the bed, the better.
